Microsoft Terra Server

The Microsoft Terra Server is an online database of satellite photographs of the planet earth. The images are from two sources: the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and Spin-2. SPIN-2 provided high-resolution satellite images, products of a joint Russian/American venture to market declassified satellite photographs from sophisticated Russian mapping satellites."

UNESCO World Heritage List

Map layers can be downloaded from the USGS free via FTP. Maps have zoom function that allows users to examine over 2 million entries closely.
