Asher Scholarship Awarded
Monte
Chitty was recently awarded the Louis F. Asher scholarship. Monte is a student
in the Master of Arts in Theological Studies program. He completed 18 hours of
course work during his first semester while doing excellent academic work. He expects to graduate from BMA
Seminary this May.
The
Asher scholarship is awarded every spring on the basis of outstanding academic
work during a student's first semester.
The scholarship is named for Dr. Louis F. Asher (B.D. '64), long time Professor
of Biblical Studies and Church History at BMA Seminary. He is noted for his
biography of John Clarke, the first Baptist minister to come to America. The
scholarship is sponsored by Glenfawn Baptist Church in Cushing, Texas, where Dr.
Asher pastored for many years.
Monte Chitty is here shown (l-r) with Gerald
Pepper, pastor of Glenfawn Baptist Church, Mrs. Asher, and several of Dr.
Asher's children. |
